Difference between neurofeedback and biofeedback?
When we talk about brain training methods, two things first come into our mind i.e biofeedback and neurofeedback. Let me clear, biofeedback and neurofeedback both are different from each other but how they are different and what is biofeedback we will see further. What is biofeedback?
Biofeedback is a brain training method and under the section of biofeedback, there is neurofeedback. We can say that neurofeedback is a subdivision of biofeedback. Another word for Neurofeedback is EEG biofeedback.
Biofeedback used to treat people suffering from anxiety, stress, hypertension, and chronic pain.
Biofeedback uses medical instruments and provides feedback to the client. Through this process clients can gain control over physical function that they haven’t had much control over..Basically there are three types of biofeedback, they are.
- Thermal biofeedback measures skin temperature.
- Electromyography measures muscle tension.
- Neurofeedback or EEG biofeedback focuses on electrical brain activity.
Difference between biofeedback and neurofeedback:-
Biofeedback is a general term, and it’s used to describe a type of feedback training for the body. Since it’s a general term, biofeedback can describe almost any type of process that involves the use of medical equipment to monitor body functions. For example, a PET scan, a thermometer, and a blood pressure cuff are all examples of biofeedback. Neurofeedback is different because it describes a specific type of biofeedback, which consists of brainwave readings.
